Tried and Tested: Brazilian Wax @ The House of Glitz

This post has no before and after photo. House of Glitz, tucked inside Eastwood's Beauty and Fashion mall could just be the best, most pain-free waxing service out there for ladies who want to lay bare.

With a few friends, we tried their services and we were surprised they offered brazilian waxing. After all, The House of Glitz is known as a nail spa. Now we know they are more than that and they mean serious expert service.

One thing important in getting a Brazilian Wax (meaning no hair would be left untouched down under) is hygiene. Look how their honey-sugar wax are in little containers. No double dipping in one big pot of wax!

Just look at Jinky (my technician) who appears to be doing surgery with her outfit and tools. All sterilized in front of me.

The House of Glitz utilizes some sort of special paper that sticks towards the wax and makes it easy to pull without so much pain. Seriously, I almost fell as sleep as Jinky does her business. Although, the paper teared a couple of times and the technician had to pull shorter lengths of the pad which were a bit painful but tolerable.

The service lasted for around an hour but I was relaxed and felt safe all throughout. What I wish for though is for The House of Glitz to have their own toilet should clients wish to wash before having a wax. They actually had a feminine wash but no where to use it except for the mall's CR.

Proud owners Raymond and Kristine

Raymond, the store owner produced this Audrey Hepburn wall mosaic on his own.

However, I understand how The House of Glitz's space is a bit small but was creatively designed by one of the partners. Love Audrey Hepburn, she's all over the place. The owners have plans on transferring to a bigger space though *fingers crossed*.

You will be surprised at how affordable and practical their prices are. If I remember right, the brazilian wax costs around Php 380. After getting my lady parts done, I proceeded with an even more relaxing Foot Reflexology massage at just Php 300.

Drop by the House of Glitz, 3rd Floor, Eastwood Beauty and Fashion Mall beside Jollibee. Perfect for after bar hopping or before your big date at Eastwood! :)

FOOD: O'sonho Portuguese Restaurant

I have no idea what Portuguese cuisine is besides that it should be similar to Spanish cuisine which we Filipinos are used to. But, upon first bite I didn't know that Portuguese cuisine is a different story that has a spicy happy ending.

The first dish I tried is this pasta which is a combination of chicken and pasta noodles tossed in a unique blend of oil and spices. For me, this is the best dish in O'sonho that I have tried. It is a well-balanced meal with the lightness of the sauce and the weight of the flavorful chicken. But unlike the usual pasta tossed in oil, you can eat as much as you want without too feeling saturated.

For meat lovers, here's a back rib rubbed in coffee beans. It is served with a scoop of mashed sweet potatoes (kamote) which makes for a bitter-sweet entree altogether.

I tried two more dishes, one is the chorizo sisig which O'sonho is known for. However I am not a fan of sisig and had great expectations that were unfortunately unmet by this one. The other dish is an interesting viand made of fried potato strings and spicy pork. Anything spicy, I love.

Overall, if there is one thing O'sonho is good at, it is the ability to mix and blend different types of spices that are unique in taste. Out of the four dishes I tried, 3 of them are like 'first-times' for my palette which is a virgin when it comes to Portuguese cuisine.

My experience deserved a nice dessert from O'sonho, chocolate cake topped with a cherry. Thumbs up for every restaurant that doesn't forget to offer a sweet ending to every meal.

O'sonho is located at Eastwood City Mall where more interesting dining spots and flavors await you! :)

Cory Aquino Bag by Rajo Laurel Launched

At the Eastwood City Mall, the spirit of former President Cory Aquino lived on at the launch of the latest Rajo Laurel Eco Bag. Inspired by the late president, the eco bag not only supports the environment but also the livelihood of families in Payatas.

Rajo Laurel interview with Style and Relax:

The nanays of Payatas are not new to us, they have been weaving and sewing stylish bags with the help of designers through Rags2Riches. Yet this time, the Cory Aquino Eco Bags are already sold out even before the launch. According to Rajo, it seems that the Cory Aquino eco bag has reached the level of an Hermes Birkin. The eco bag is now on a waiting list system, one has to call to reserve through Eastwood City Mall to own one.

The bag could not get any more simple, like President Cory Aquino - the bag is humble, simple, and not attention-seeking. It is made of canvas and a handle whose material is the same used as doormats. More than fashion, the bag is special for what it stands for - that if we work together, no matter how small we are, we can turn things into something useful and beautiful.

The canvas fabric, macrome handle, and the wooden insignia, were all made out of scrap materials, re-used and reinvented to reduce waste in Metro Manila, to create a fashionable pro-earth statement, and to support President Cory Aquino's cause.

To own Rajo Laurel's Cory Aquino Eco Bag, visit the concierge at the second floor of Eastwood City Mall.
