Flip flops: Back for the Summer!

The cold spell is now dwindling and it only means one thing. Summer is here and a long one it's going to be! So as early as now, I'm writing about a summer must-have and I'm talking about flip flops :)

If you're like me who can't have enough comfy pairs, there's a brand of flip flop you might be overlooking. When it comes to flipflops, different brands not only mean different styles but different comfort levels too.

And don't forget that comfort should be on top of your list. These Caribbean flip flops almost makes me feel bare feet. As if my feet are sking on the rubber soles. I want to get the most out of this summer and these are perfect to keep my feet going whilst staying pretty!

Caribbean footwear says these soles are artistically formed to create proper foot formation and posture that will enhance endurance while walking or running.

I have two Caribbean flip flops whose designs are fairly simple (see above, those are actual photos of my own pair). I think that's what summer is all about. Letting your hair down, keeping it casual, light, and fun.

This season, we're seeing more shear long dresses and skirts that have dipping hems. I'm talking about these:

I officially declare these are equally good-looking with my Caribbean flip flops. Look for these styles when shopping trendy this summer. Don't forget to bring your flipflops to dry-run your outfits with.

Shopping for summertime is really exciting - tell me about it! Just writing this post makes me want to go to the department stores (where Carribean flip flops are also available). One of my goals is to be more organizes when packing for the resort. Hence, I think another must-have is a clear bag like this:

Also perfect for stuffing and showing off your cute flip flops! By the way, if you frequent The World Trade Bazaar, Caribbean was one of the top sellers. So expect to see more pretty feet wearing this brand. Don't be surprised, a pair only costs around Php 200 - so get as many as you want without breaking the bank.

Photo: Make sure you don't miss out! Remember 502 - it's our booth number :)

So, where are you headed this summer and what are you wearing? Tell me via comments below!

Fashion: Havaianas and the Matryoshka Design Principle

My sister Joni and I have always had a thing with Matryoshka dolls (also known as Babushka). When Gucci launched the Babushka laminated bag, older wicked sister had to have it. She did. I am more frugal but I appreciate Russian culture and the Matryoshka paradigm too.

Hence, these Havaianas Slim Matryoshka. oh-ha!

They are equally inspired by the mysterious dolls. But more than the inspiration, I always love Havaianas because I get away with them everytime. The brand is a license to wear tsinelas/ flipflops everywhere and anywhere, don't you think?

I remember in DLSU, we had a rule that you can wear tsinelas as long as they are worth P300 above. Okay don't get my diploma back, that could be one of those urban legends but I always hear it at Gate 2. I could wear these to school everywhere everyday, I have a two year old pair of Havaianas and it's boggling why it still looks brand new.

Lookie at the small Matryoshka doll embellishment, so lovely and cute :) Every girl deserves a pair!

With Russian inspired prints topped with a doll embellishment, the Matryoshka line will have everyone talking.

Mine also came with a real set of Matryoshka doll. FYI, the Matryoshka follows the principle of an onion. Notice how when you peel off the outer layer of an onion, a similar smaller onion is inside. Now you know.

Here is my 10 month old boy playing with the FREE doll <3

And my feet who have not tasted a pedicure for weeks look acceptable with Havaianas.

Get all dolled up this summer! ;)

Meet Ginga - The latest in Flip Flops!

You know what's good about all the flip-flop craze and new brands popping out? It's giving us girls the license to have more relaxed comfort and getaway with wearing flip flops just about anywhere :)

I am guilty of this (and also on wearing Crocs everywhere)especially when I have no time to decide what shoes to wear. They are just so easy to go with and fun to wear with all the colors and prints available.

For popular casual footwear brand Ginga, pronounced as jinga (which literally means to rock back and forth or to swing like the fundamental movement in capoeira), flip-flops aren’t just for summer strolls and beach getaways. They are the perfect footwear for the rainy season—they are comfy, stylish, durable, and easy to clean and dry. No need to worry about drenched shoes and dripping socks!

I personally like white colored flip flops but they get dirty easily. I will try with my new pair of Ginga if they are really easy to clean. White flip-flops are just so feminine just like a Barbie doll's slip-ons. The photos above are just some of Ginga's designs that I personally like and think that you would love to :)

Pininho - Glamourize your Havaianas!

Right now, we are going gaga for accessories - bib necklaces, cocktail rings, and vintage bangles. You'd think you have it all but na-ah! Until you get this Pininho pins for your favorite pairs of Havaianas.

True Love? and Skull with Bones, I'll take the second one!

Pininho pins come in several designs, material, and color. I suggest going for the gold ones for that ulta-chic and classy look. Love this skull and bones diamante :)

Super helpful when you are aching for a new pair of flip-flops but are tight on the budget. Imagine, you can use different Pininhos for the same pair of havaianas.

Pininho pins also come from the makers of Havaianas and you can simply use the punch to create a hole in your havies. For more information, visit http://pininho.multiply.com/ to view all styles and learn how to order.

Ipanema's Plataforma has New Colors!

At the Ipanema Walkathon, I got for my mom this Ipanema Gisele Bundchen Seeds pair:

ipanema seeds

This is called Plataforma, and she loves it very much. I also like how thick the soles of Plataformas are, not to mention it came in White and Gold combination that is very classy. The Ipanema Plataforma is great specially now that it's starting to rain. With this, you can still enjoy wearing flipflops but you have elevation in case the road gets wet, yes?

Now the Ipanema Gisele Bundchen Seeds Plataforma also comes in Pink and Purple:

Check out the nearest Ipanema stands in your favorite mall as they also have new exciting colors for other designs :)

Walking in Style at the Ipanema Walkathon @ The Fort

2:00 PM at The Fort yesterday, people were already present and lining up to register for the Ipanema Walk the Green Mile Walkathon. The crowd included young people, parents and kids, and even models and actresses.

Everyone donned their favorite walking outfit and all I could come up with was this:

The Ipanema Walk the Green Mile Walkathon official shirt, black shorts, Ipanema baller ID, and a pair of Ipanema Thong Fem. Early birds were given the official Ipanema Walk the Green Mile Walkathon shirts, yey! :)

Models including Raya Mananquil and actress Karla Humprey definitely knew how to walk in style with their own pairs of Ipanemas and remain glamorous under the summer's heat.

Prior to the walkathon, some attendees took the time to shop at specially discounted Ipanema flip flops and Haribon Foundation shirts at their respective tents.

Patxi Elizalde leads the Walkathon with family and friends

The Uganda band had an easy time walking and playing music with their Ipanemas on . Thanks to them everyone enjoyed energizing music while walking "the green mile".

The walkathon ended with a rewarding cocktail at Le Souffle and an Ipanema fashion show. Who knew walkathons can be this fabulous right?

Congratulations to Ipanema and thank you for getting everyone to stand up and walk for the environment.

Mallxercise with Fitflops

Flip flops companies have gone more aggressive in marketing as soon as the summer season kicked in. This is good news for shoppers as we are presented with creative and fun activities like walkathons or being able to help a cause by shopping.

[fitflop+shop.jpg]

The latest flip flops brand that is coming up with an activity is called Fitflops. I've researched about it and learned that it's called Fitflops because it helps ladies tone their leg muscles and get more exercise just by wearing these sandals. It has a patented multi-density microwobble board mid-sole that tones the bum, legs and thigh muscles with each stride. Great invention, yes?

Walk Star Aqua

On March 28, if you are one of the first 20 persons who purchase a pair of Fitflops - you will be entitled to join their Mallxercise session around the Powerplant Mall where ladies would be taught how to walk properly while visiting health and wellness boutiques. There will also be fun activities like a scavenger hunt where you can win prizes! :) A limited edition “Aurelia” gladiator-style FitFlop will be up for grabs. See you there!

Style Scene: Havaianas celebrates Originality

Inside the Powerplant Mall, Havaianas celebrated being original and presented the history of their flip flops tracing back to 1962!

During the event, attendees had their photos taken and were asked to scribble why they are original. Each photo also served as a pledge to support RockEd Philippines, Havaianas gave RockEd Php 470 for every pledge made that evening! This is also to rekindle Havaianas' birth 47 years ago.

Iya Villana and Mo Twister's Havaianas

The host Iya Villana also shared how footwear designer Christian Louboutin said that every woman must have at least 3 pairs of shoes: one high heel, one skin-colored sandal, and one pair of Havaianas. The famous flip flops were also mentioned in the recent book of Nina Garcia "The One Hundred".

Attendees sported their favorite Havaianas like these two ladies: Elaine Uy and KanKan Ramos of Yehey.com

You can also grab your own pair of Havaianas be part of the Havaianas history! Look for this latest Original design this 2009 in grey or red.
