Style Star: Maja Salvador at the miadidas Launch

P4197293

Inside the adidas store in Greenbelt 3, we met actress Maja Salvador during the miadidas launch. She was there tinkering with a computer, designing her own pair of adidas rubbershoes. That's what miadidas is all about, customization. And like other celebs such as Karylle and basketball players, you too can make your pair of adidas uniquely yours.

Of course, I just had to ask Maja some questions about beauty, fashion, and her new short hair :)

You can now catch her in a new TV series called Impostor. I like Maja, she's friendly and always smiling. It's just a breeze talking to her.

More on the shoes - The unique customization process of miadidas allows you to create a shoe according to your preferences. Choose from array of models to tinker with, including the Predator PS, Barricade 5, Pro model Team Color, adiEro ACE, Microbounce, TS Bounce Commander, BTB LT, and the TS Lightning Creator.

So the Then and Now Massive Music Festival 2010 is happening tomorrow at the SM Mall of Asia Concert Grounds, and last night was one of those lucky days for me because I got to meet Jared and Nick of V Factory! :)

Jared Murillo and Nick Teti from V Factory

Both guys are techie, handling their own social networks like Twitter and Facebook. And thank God they know what bloggers are.

P5121171
Myrus Ramirez (left) was also there, an upcoming pop R&B singer. He will be the front act for tomorrow's music fest.

Jojo was suppose to meet us too but after spotting her dining at Sofitel's Spiral, we learned that she was super exhausted and opted to rest for the concert tomorrow.

The two guys were extremely nice and handsome that I couldn't do anything but just record what transpired during a short Q&A session with them. (Looks like my husband stole my video credit and put his name on it! oh well x.x)

Thanks to Renzie of Divan Media Group - the organizers of the Then and Now Concert

Grab your tickets via Ticketnet, they are fast selling now as International artists have started flowing in the country since last night. Today Diana King is arriving! For more details, log on to www.thenandnowconcert.com

Patrice Ramos-Diaz at Face Off

Continuing my blog series on the Face Off fashion show sponsored by the Philippine Daily Inquirer and Samsung's 3D LED, here are the creations of renowned bridal fashion designer Patrice Ramos-Diaz.

The entire collection was pure femininity. Soft fabrics, light colors, light movement, everything was pretty. I am not sure if it was chiffon fabric used in the skirts and dresses as Patrice Ramos-Diaz is known for using indigenous materials for her work. But whatever fabric it was, it sure fits the woman's figure and movement. It is this element of the clothes that add the right amount of softness. It sure was a breath of fresh air from all the sharp cuts and shapes seen in the earlier parts of the show.

Soft in black

Aside from flowy dresses and skirts, pieces in shimmering fabric also made their way to the runway. This time, the pieces are closer to the body to show off a woman's figure.

Dining at Mario's Tomas Morato

I had no idea why my husband was so excited to dine at Mario's. Turns out that the place is almost legendary, even my mom knew about how wonderful dining at Mario's is. So one night with other foodie bloggers, we went to try their new menu.

P4218046

Mario's is tucked inside Tomas Morato, it was a quiet place compared to what was surrounding it - bars, casual diners, etc. Upon entering, I heard live piano music. A pianist was playing just near the doorway as we were greeted by the maitre d'. Instantly, I knew I was going to have a great dining moment here.

The place is bursting with simple elegance perfect for lovers to escape to. Most have memories of dining at Mario's with their families, because the place is just so convenient and meals are close to home.

Pork Santol Chutney

Speaking of meals, I had the Pork Santol Chutney. It sounded exotic and so I wanted to try it, I never had santol fruit in my meals before.

First off, the pork was magically cooked in a way that you can cut the skin without wrestling with the knife. the meat was just so soft and tender, the skin crispy but easy to cut and chew. I have no idea how the chef did it.

Turmeric Chicken, read my husband's post about it at Food Pilipinas

The pork oozed with its own juice while the chutney provided a naturally sweet flavor to the meat. It was so tasty everyone around me just had to ask for a bite, and so I gave them slices of my little porky heaven.

The rice was a perfect match to the pork santol chutney, everything was flavorful on the correct level, not very saturating and you can easily finish off a plate if you wanted to.

The Mango Jubilee Flambes licked by fire

Me who can't wait to taste the flambes

Just before I finished my meal, the waiter whipped up a dessert called Mango Jubilee Flambes (pronounced as flam-bei). It was more of a performance married to a delectable dessert. On his cart was some liquor, sugar, and sliced mangoes. He then set the mangoes on flame several times to caramelize and bring out their flavor. Then they were served in wine glasses together with vanilla icecream. No words can explain how delicious the Mango Jubilee is. We were all looking around for extra servings because it was that good.

I also have to mention that Mario's is one of those dining places who serve real iced tea, which is brewed and not powdered. Everything was like an orchestrated dining experience and I cannot wait to go back on our own :)

A Chic Pirate-Themed Birthday Party for Anya

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4036/4567323947_0fb2838fc8.jpg

Our little baby, my niece, Anya is all grown up and celebrated her 7th birthday in such style. I am now a fan of my sister Joni's Martha Stewart-like prowess in party planning. Anya's birthday has been in the works for several months and Joni collected different paraphernalia from ebay, physical shops, etc. to make the theme work well.

http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4029/4567469274_7be58c4a7c.jpg

They even invited real and trained pirates (entertainers) for the party which was held in their home in Cragieburn, Australia.

Anya's treat bags prepared by her mommy Joni

Even the pies had pirate flags on them!

I am sure Anya had an awesome time, I could feel it in her voice when she phoned me tonight :) And I am very proud of my sister, Anya's mommy, Joni. I am sure she has inspired me and other ladies on how to throw a great party whether for friends or family.

Point is to plan and think ahead, most of all, be creative!
